    A LIBRARY ON THE MOVE...
The Edinburg Public Library will officially close its doors on Sunday, March 4, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. in preparation of its move to 1906 S. Closner (right in front of the Echo Motel), where they will open as the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library. The opening date of the new library will be finalized and announced soon.

THE “I SHOP EDINBURG” SAVINGS CARD IS BACK!
Back by popular demand is the “I SHOP EDINBURG” Savings Card. The “I SHOP EDINBURG” campaign was formulated by the Edinburg Marketing Team two years ago in order to support the business and professional community in Edinburg, while stimulating the economic growth and promoting Edinburg’s quality of life.

When you buy something in Edinburg, two percent of the sales tax comes back to the city each month in state rebates. Businesses, from retail to manufacturing, send the local and state tax collections to the state and the city's portion is returned in the form of a state rebate. Half of the funds are earmarked for economic development projects, the other half for city services.

When you present your “I SHOP EDINBURG” Savings Card at participating retailer and merchant establishments, you can receive discounts on food and merchandise. The "I SHOP EDINBURG" Savings Card is available now at the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce located at 602 W. University and Edinburg City Hall located at 210 W. McIntyre. For a complete listing of participating businesses or to become a participating “I SHOP EDINBURG” business, contact the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce at (956)383-4924.

Next time you need to buy something, hire a landscaper or see a physician, think Edinburg First. That's the message behind the "I Shop Edinburg" campaign.
