The program is intended to help fire departments across the state of Texas in providing free smoke alarms and installation services in homes of low income or elderly families. Nearly 50 fire departments across the state are now participating in the program, which have succeeded in distributing and installing over 20,000 smoke alarms. All submissions will be reviewed by the Edinburg Fire Marshal's Office and qualified applicants will be contacted to schedule date and time of installation.
