Planning & Zoning Commission
The Planning & Zoning Commission is derived of seven board members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by City Council. The Commission reviews rezoning cases, subdivision and development plats. It’s empowered to conduct appropriate studies, draft proposed regulations and amendments and makes policy recommendations to Council regarding the Comprehensive Plan and Unified Development Code.

Planning Commission approval is often the first-step required in the development process. The Commission meets every second Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers, 415 W. University Drive, unless otherwise posted. The public is open to sign up to speak on any public hearing item. Items on the agenda posted as consent are typically considered in one grouping. Items considered separately include replats requiring a public hearing and variance.

Zoning Board of Adjustment
The board’s purpose is to consider variances and special exceptions to the standards established in the Unified Development Code.
