  • Festiba Community Day
    6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. – Edinburg City Hall Courtyard

    FESTIBA Community Day is done in conjunction with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Each year the City of Edinburg and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valle, come together to celebrate books and arts, and the diversity within our wonderful community. The Event is free and open to the public.

  • Sunday Movies at the Library – The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

    Young Clara needs a magical, one-of-a-kind key to unlock a box that contains a priceless gift. A golden thread leads her to the coveted key, but it soon disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. In that world, she meets a soldier named Phillip, a group of mice and the regents who preside over three realms. Clara and Phillip must now enter a fourth realm to retrieve the key and restore harmony to the unstable land.

  • Scholars for Life Speaker Series
    6:00 P.M. – Library Meeting Room

    Before it became the Republic of Texas in 1836, the state of Coahuila and Tejas underwent a bloody revolution. The "Runaway Scrape" denotes a particularly dire period for the Texas revolutionaries and their families. In her talk, Dr. Linda English will focus on how the Runaway Scrape posed challenges to conventional notions of gender—for both women and men—in the early months of 1836.

    Join us for a special Night of Poetry and Music. The night’s featured guest and emcee will be author and poet Julieta Corpus. Other poets and writers featured throughout the night include Anne Estevis, Ruth Poole, Nely Gonzalez, Mark Esperanza, Anthony Ripp, Rolando Serna, Marlene Guerrero, and Martha Alicia Pavon. Manny Carrizales and Isai Charles will be playing during the evening.
