Doctors Hospital at Renaissance and University of Houston College of Pharmacy to Open Satellite Program in Edinburg
Edinburg, Texas (June 27, 2017) – Doctors Hospital at Renaissance and the University of Houston announced the opening of a satellite program for its College of Pharmacy in Edinburg at a press conference today.
The program will serve as a teaching site for the college’s Professional Pharmacy Hispanic Healthcare Certificate Program designed to help close disparity gaps in health care in the Rio Grande Valley.
Students will be trained in a team-based approach with medical students and students from other health care professions. The collaborative program will produce well-trained clinical pharmacists to provide essential primary and preventative health care services for citizens in the Rio Grande Valley.
The program will help eliminate a shortage of clinical pharmacists in the region.
Councilmember Richard Molina was in attendance at the press conference on behalf of the City and the Council.
