Edinburg Proclaims May 28 as U.S. Border Patrol Day
Edinburg, Texas (May 30, 2017) – Mayor Richard H. Garcia presented a proclamation at the United States Border Patrol Rio Grande Valley Sector Headquarters declaring May 28 as U.S. Border Patrol Day in the City of Edinburg.
The presentation took place at a ceremony celebrating the 93rd anniversary of the establishment of the U.S. Border Patrol.
Mayor Garcia thanked the agents that were present for their service before presenting the proclamation to Chief Patrol Agent Manuel Padilla Jr.
The Rio Grande Valley Sector is one of nine sectors along the country’s southwest border and is comprised of more than 3,000 agents. The RGV Sector agents patrol 316 border/zone miles and 317 coastal miles equating more than 34,000 square miles.
