Edinburg, EEDC, LRGVDC Hold Groundbreaking Ceremony for Construction of Transit Terminal
Edinburg, Texas (May 12, 2017) – The City of Edinburg, the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation, the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council broke ground for the construction of the multi-use transit terminal Friday morning.
The Edinburg Transit Terminal will be built with a $4.3 million federal grant on a 1.6-acre tract donated by the EEDC for the project.
The approximately 15,000 square foot facility will be a mixed-use project that will combine public transit service with office space and retail.
The two-story building will also be home to Valley Metro, the City’s transit provider and the EEDC.
The terminal will be located at 617 W. University Drive between 6th and 7th Streets catty-corner to the gazebo on McIntyre Street.
