Edinburg to Host Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival
Edinburg, Texas (April 24, 2017) – It’s Fiesta time. Edinburg is gearing up for the Annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration taking place at the Edinburg City Hall Courtyard. The yearly event promises to once again be a fun cultural celebration full of free activities for the whole family to enjoy.
The two-day event will take place Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6. It will feature artisans from various regions in Mexico with unique handmade products including pottery, art, textiles, jewelry, candies and much more for sale.
Day one kicks off at 6 p.m. with an artisan fair and various mariachi performances throughout the evening. The Robert Vela High School Mariachi Sable de Plata and the Edinburg North High School Mariachi de Oro will perform as will Mariachi Los Caporales, Mariachi Monumental, and Mariachi Xochipilli considered to be some of the most amazing professional groups in the Rio Grande Valley.
On day two festivities will start at 10 a.m. with Mexican artisans and an array of wonderful activities. Enjoy Mariachi, Conjunto, & Folkloric Dance Team Exhibitions as well as games for children, an animal show by Contacto Animal, and other activities throughout the day. The evening concert features a performance by Los Garcia Bros from Eagle Pass, Texas, Grupo Internacional Constelacion, Conjunto Delta Boyz from Edcouch-Elsa, and Costumbre.
