City Council Proclaims April 8-14 as National Crime Victims' Rights Week in Edinburg
National Crime Victims’ Rights Week dates back to 1981 and is observed every April to promote victims’ rights and services, and efforts to prevent crime and make our communities safer.
More than 26 million crimes are committed each year affecting the lives of many Americans.
Hidalgo County has many resources available to victims of crime and is dedicated to strengthening victims and survivors in the aftermath of crime, building resilience in our communities, and working for justice for all victims and survivors.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the Second Annual Walk for Crime Victims & Survivors hosted by the Rio Grande Valley, Families & Friends of Murdered Children. The walk will begin at the Hidalgo County Courthouse parking lot to Edinburg City Hall and back to the Courthouse.
The event will take place on April 8 at 8:30 a.m.
