City Council Proclaims April 16-22 as National Healthcare Decision Week
Edinburg, Texas (March 22, 2017) – The Edinburg City Council issued a proclamation to mark the week of April 16-22, 2017 as National Healthcare Decision Week in the City of Edinburg.
National Healthcare Decision Week aims to raise awareness about the importance of quality end of life care for the chronic and terminally ill especially among minority groups.
In Hidalgo County the population is made up of approximately 91.2 percent Hispanic – a group in which advanced care planning is typically scarce.
Advance care planning starts with a conversation communicating patient preferences for what they want for themselves at the end of their lives.
