H-E-B Park Inauguration to Feature International Soccer Friendly between RGV FC and C.F. Monterrey
Edinburg, Texas (Feb. 13, 2017) – Rio Grande Valley FC announced an international friendly against Club de Futbol Monterrey to serve as the inauguration game for H-E-B Park. The Toros will take on Rayados on Wednesday, March 22 at 7 p.m.
The match marks the first international friendly in club history and the first ever game to be played inside the 9,700-capacity stadium. Complete with full-kitchen concessions, an amphitheater, and luxury suites, H-E-B Park will lead the league in infrastructure.
“We are more than excited to inaugurate our H-E-B Park with an international friendly against a renowned team like Rayados,” RGV FC Toros President Bert Garcia said. “One of the goals of the organization is to provide first-class entertainment to the Rio Grande Valley and we cannot wait to see the support of the community in the stands.”
The friendly versus Rayados will be the last game the Toros play before starting the 2017 United Soccer League season against San Antonio FC.
C.F. Monterrey is one of the top teams from Mexico’s Liga MX having won the league championship four times. Additionally, the club won the CONCACAF Champions League three consecutive seasons from 2010 to 2013.
