UTRGV Women's Tennis Team Recognized by City Council for Best Ever Season

Edinburg, Texas (Feb. 10, 2017) – The Edinburg City Council recognized the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women’s tennis team for its successful 2016 season. The women’s tennis team won its first Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Tournament Championship and earned its first NCAA Tournament berth.

The women’s tennis team became the first UTRGV team to program to win a WAC Tournament Championship which led to a NCAA Tournament appearance.

The Vaqueros defeated University of Missouri-Kansas City in the first round of the WAC Tournament and New Mexico State University in the championship match.

UTRGV’s Reegan Greenwood, Doris Aleksovska, and Tara Donaho were named to the WAC All-Tournament Singles Team, while Aleksovska and Dominique Ivarra were named to the Doubles Team.

Donaho, Greenwood, and Aleksovska earned All-WAC honors. Additionally, Donaho was named WAC Freshman of the Year.
