Edinburg Welcomes 11 New Officers to the Police Department

EDINBURG, TEXAS (Aug. 14, 2018) – The City of Edinburg and the Edinburg Police Department held a special ceremony on Monday to welcome 11 new officers.

Mayor Richard Molina said, “It gives us the ability to put more manpower on the streets so that there’s better security so that people don’t have that fear of crime.”

The group of 11 officers is among the largest the City has sworn in at one time.

“We’ve done this before, but it’s not very usual for us to swear in this many police officers,” Molina said. “It lets you know how aggressive the mayor and the council are at beefing up our police force.”

The officers were accompanied by their families as they took the oath of office and received their Edinburg Police Department badge.
