Ready, Set, Sail! Edinburg Gearing Up for Fourth Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta

EDINBURG, TEXAS (March 9, 2018) – The Edinburg Parks & Recreation Department will host the Fourth Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta on Friday, March 9 at the Edinburg Municipal Pool at 6 p.m.

Participants of the race will have to get creative to design and construct their boats and paddles. Teams are only allowed to use cardboard and duct tape. Boats may also be decorated with acrylic latex paint.

This year, the race will feature three divisions including children ages 6-12, teens ages 13-17, and adults 18 years or older.

All boats must set sail with a minimum of two persons and a maximum of four persons. All racers will be required to wear life jackets.

Teams will vie to be the fastest boat in Edinburg. Awards will also be given for: Best Team, Most Enthusiastic Team, Most Spectacular Sinking, Most Creative Theme, Perseverance, Best Design, and People’s Choice.

The Edinburg Municipal Pool is located at 125 E. Palm Drive between the Activity Center and the Sports & Wellness Center. The public is invited to attend.
