Mayor Molina Welcomes Dean of UTRGV Medical School at Public Affairs Luncheon
The keynote speaker of the event was Dr. John Krouse, Dean of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine.
The medical school is gearing up to welcome its third class of 54 future physicians. Those students were selected out of approximately 4,000 applicants. Krouse said about a third of the medical students are from the Rio Grande Valley.
Krouse detailed UTRGV’s plans to improve the educational opportunities for medical students, expand healthcare access to communities in the Rio Grande Valley, and continue to fund research opportunities.
“As mayor, I can tell you I am very, very proud of UTRGV,” Molina said. “I know you will continue making the valley a healthier place to live.”
