Edinburg Holds Pinning Ceremony for 11 New Officers

IMG_1831Edinburg, Texas (Dec. 6, 2017) – The City of Edinburg and the Edinburg Police Department welcomed 11 new officers during a special ceremony in the City Hall council Chambers Wednesday morning.

Edinburg Police Officers are amongst the highest paid in the Rio Grande Valley. While attending the academy, the cadets earn $34,691.45. Once they become certified, the salary increases to $46,537.83 and upon successfully satisfying the required one- year probationary period the salary increases to $52,092.60.

The officers were accompanied by their families as they took the oath of office and received their Edinburg Police Department badge.

Additionally, Officer Rogelio Salinas was presented with the Meritorious Service Award and Officer Manuel Alvarez was promoted to sergeant.

Mayor Richard Molina, Mayor Pro Tem David Torres, and Councilmember Jorge Salinas were also present at the ceremony to welcome the new officers.
