DPS Holds Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Driver License Center in Edinburg
Mayor Richard Molina welcomed DPS to Edinburg and spoke of the importance of the Driver License Center to the region.
“Edinburg is growing rapidly. It’s one of the fastest growing cities in the RGV,” Molina said. “For the people who grow up here, who do business here, you know how special this building is to each and every one of us.”
The center, which has been fully operational since Oct. 23, features 12 processing workstations with the ability to add an additional 12, upgraded technology and lanes designated for commercial driver license skills testing.
The Edinburg Driver License Center is one of 25 CDL designated testing locations in the state.
Director of Department of Public Safety Steven C. McCraw said DPS committed to providing quality customer service.
“The people of the Rio Grande Valley, the people of Texas, not only deserve, but they should have the outstanding service when it comes to receiving a driver’s license,” he said.
Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa echoed the importance of the Driver License Center to Edinburg and the Rio Grande Valley.
“Having a driver’s license is a necessity of life,” Hinojosa said. “You cannot travel, you cannot drive, you cannot even open a bank account unless you have a driver’s license.”
Mayor Pro Tem David Torres and Councilmember Gilbert Enriquez also attended the ceremony.
The physical address for the DPS Mega Center is 5160 N. I69C and is accessible by taking the Davis Road/Ramseyer Road exit.
