Special Meeting Called to Canvass Edinburg Election Votes and Swearing-In Scheduled for Following Day
Edinburg, Texas (Nov. 13, 2017) – A special meeting of the Edinburg City Council is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 5 p.m. in order to canvass the votes from the Nov. 7, 2017 City Election.
The canvassing is the process necessary to declare and accept the results of the election, thus making way for the swearing-in of the elected candidates.
The canvassing will take place in the City Council Chambers at Edinburg City Hall located at 415 West University Drive.
The Swearing-in of Mayor Elect Richard Molina, Councilmember Elect Jorge “Coach” Salinas, and Councilmember Elect Gilbert Enriquez is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 5 p.m.

Mayor Elect Richard Molina, who will preside over his first meeting at 6:30 p.m. following the swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday, encourages the community to get involved and stay abreast of their city government.
City Council Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month. The meeting scheduled for Nov. 15 was originally scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 7, but due to the Election, Council rescheduled it. Regularly scheduled meetings start at 6 p.m. and they are broadcast live via the City’s PEG Channel 95-12 and streamed live on the City’s Website www.cityofedinburg.com.
