EDINBURG, TEXAS (May 9, 2018) – The Leadership Edinburg Class XXIX along with the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce and the City of Edinburg held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new inclusive playground at Norma Linda Treviño Park Wednesday morning.

Mayor Richard Molina thanked and congratulated the Edinburg Leadership Class XXIX for its initiative and advocacy for inclusive parks.

“You have started a movement,” Molina said. “People want to see action and this Edinburg Leadership Class XXIX has taken the bull by the horns and has taken action.”

Molina said this initiative will be the foundation for the City moving forward with every park in the City being equipped with inclusive playground equipment.

Additionally, the City has already earmarked $800,000 to construct a special needs park in Edinburg.

“On behalf of the Mayor and the Edinburg City Council you can see there is a start of the movement and I promise you this will start in all the parks,” Molina concluded.

Mayor Pro Tem David Torres, Councilmember Jorge Salinas, and other City officials and staff were also in attendance at the ceremony.

Norma Linda Treviño Park is located at 909 S. Monmack Rd.
