EDINBURG, TEXAS (June 18, 2018) – The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library will host a poetry writing workshop and open mic event, Exercise in Empathy and Objects of Presence, on Thursday, June 21 at 3 p.m. at the Library Meeting Room. The event will feature McAllen Poet Laurate Edward Vidaurre.

The writing workshop, which will take place from 3-5 p.m., will provide participants the opportunity to write their own poem and receive feedback before the open mic portion of the event.

Vidaurre said, “The writing workshop has been designed to teach the basics in a simple, concise fashion and make it fun for those in attendance to learn the craft of poetry writing.”

The open mic portion of the event will take place from 6-8 p.m. and will be open to all poets interested in sharing their work.
