UPDATE: Disaster Declaration - Road Clusures and Sandbag Distribution Due to WeatherRSS Feed

EDINBURG, TEXAS (June 21, 2018) — UPDATE: As of 10 p.m. all roadways in Edinburg are open with the exception of Dr. Miguel Nevárez St., commonly known as 4th St., and Frontage Rd. between Freddy Gonzalez Dr. and Canton Rd.

The shelter located at Montecristo Elementary is closed for the night. The shelter at South Middle School will remain open overnight.

11:13 a.m.: A shelter has opened in Edinburg at South Middle School located at 601 W. Freddy Gonzalez Drive. 

11:03 a.m.: An Emergency Operations Center hotline has been set up. If you need help evacuating your home or business, we have set up a hotline. Please call 956-316-7800.

UPDATE: As of 10:07 a.m. a Disaster Declaration has been issued for Edinburg and surrounding communities.

All calls for help should be directed to the Edinburg Police Department or call 9-1-1. Edinburg Fire Department is conducting rescues for people stranded in homes and vehicles.

Weather conditions have caused mass flooding throughout Edinburg. Driving conditions are extremely dangerous.

The Edinburg Fire Department is out and conducting rescue efforts throughout the City. City crews are dispatched and responding. High waters will take time to recede.

Sandbags are available at the Edinburg Service Center located at 1201 N. Doolittle Rd. Four bags per resident and five per businesses. Residents are welcome to fill their own bags.
