WATER & WASTEWATER FEES

Effective March 1st, 2024

Credit/Debit Card payments made onsite in person will be charged a 3% processing fee.

All utility payments made online or over the phone will be charged a 3% processing fee plus a municipal online payment fee of $1.60.

Water Rates Effective March 1st, 2024



The following monthly water rates (inside City limits) shall be charged for water sold by the City:
Individually metered single-family residential properties
$11.97 For the first 3,000 gallons

For accounts that purchase water from the City, the following rates shall be charged for sanitary sewer by the City (inside City limits):

Multi-family residential, not individually metered, and commercial
$8.94     For the first 3,000 gallons
$1.70    For each additional 1,000 gallons of water consumption
For accounts that do not purchase water from the City, the same rates will apply; however, these accounts will be billed by their water service provider on the City's behalf.

Water Tap Fees

 Customers will be billed a one-time water tap fee as follows:

(1) Final cost shall be based on actual cost of materials and labor.
(2) Cost of Street Crossing/Cuts shall be charged in addition to the tap fee

3) Customers must hire at their own expense a contractor for required bores. Contractor   must obtain all required permits prior to any work being performed at their own expense.

* A water meter in the size of 3” and above will be allowed to be installed by a contractor/developer/customer with the consent of the Utilities Department. Such meters must include the deposit fee (payable to the City) and must be installed at the contractor’s/ developers/customer’s own expense (refer to the latest Engineering Standards Manual for installation requirements).


A schedule for water tap fees and associated costs and service deposits shall be reviewed and approved by the City Manager semi-annually on a cost basis on October 1 and April 1. Customers will be billed a one-time water tap fee as follows:

 Traveling Meter
The tap fee for traveling meters are as follows:
1) Installation - $75.00
2) Relocation - $50.00
3) Deposit - $750.00
 
Note: The Deposit Fee shall not be waived due to the limited availability of traveling meters.

 Sewer Tap Fees
The City does not perform sewer taps, however, a sewer tap permit must be obtained by a licensed plumber at the Building Safety Department. All sewer tap fees in addition to any permit fees will be charged by the Building Safety Department. All required fees must be paid to the City prior to the property connecting to the City’s sewer system.

 

Payment Information

The City of Edinburg charges a 5% penalty on all accounts that are not paid by the due date. After two months of non-payment, the accounts are disconnected and there is a late fee of $25.00 and reconnection fee of $25.00. If payment is made on disconnection day, please call the office to confirm payment and to schedule a reconnection. Accounts that are connected after hours have a fee of $65.00. Unauthorized connections are charged with a $250.00 fee. All payments, with the exclusion of cash and physical checks, will be subject to convenience and transaction fees. 

The City of Edinburg Water Plant is open 24 Hours/day and 365 days of the year. On Weekends, holidays, and or "after hours" the Emergency line is (956) 388-8220.
