Defensive Driving Information

The Driving Safety Course (DSC) is an option that will keep your citation from being reported as a conviction on your driving record and will be dismissed if all terms required are successfully met. If requirements are not met and a satisfactory reason isn’t provided at the hearing, you will be found guilty and a conviction will be reported to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Not all violations are approved for a DSC. You may take one course each year in the State of Texas to have a case dismissed; not all cases are eligible for dismissal.

Do not pay your citation online if you wish to attend a Driving Safety Course.

  • Requirements to request a Driving Safety Course:
  • You must present a copy of a current Texas driver’s license, or proof that you are a member, spouse or dependent child of an active member of the United States military forces
  • Proof of financial responsibility pursuant to Chapter 601, Transportation Code (automobile liability insurance)
  • Pay court cost and $10 non-refundable fee
