Overview of Right-of-Way Division (ROW)
The Right-of-Way Division (ROW) manages and maintains public right of ways on major arterial streets within the city limits. The Right-of-Way (ROW) Division is responsible for maintenance activities within the city ROW (Mowing and Landscaping of city property). This Division is also responsible for maintaining the Drainage Infrastructure to make sure the system is clear of debris.
Services
- Culvert Pipe Services: The City of Edinburg provides culvert pipe installation at a cost of $400.00.
- Drainage Ditch Mowing and Maintenance: City of Edinburg Debris Removal, Shredding & Mowing Maintenance program is active year-round. Shredding & Mowing Maintenance schedule runs on an average 6 cycles year round.
- Right-of-Way Mowing: Mowing of public right of way is performed by sections once a month.
- Rights-of-Way Vegetation Control: City crews utilizes both mechanical and chemical methods of application on public right of ways, city easements & public sidewalks that create existing hazards caused by unwanted trees, brush, weeds and/or grass.
- Storm Collection Maintenance: Includes the flushing and vacuuming of storm lines, inlets and manholes. The goal of this program is to keep the drainage system free of blockage, or "clogs" which could adversely affect positive Drainage, and to allow the drainage system to flow efficiently and at capacity during rain events.
- Tree Trimming: Trees within a public right-of-way will be trimmed or removed only in the event that they are deemed to be nuisance, such as low hanging branches overlapping on to a public road or obstructing the view of traffic signs and signals. City ordinance states that city crews do not cut or trim trees, located in alleys, easements or on private property.
- Trees on Power Lines: Trees growing near electrical power lines are to be reported to the AEP at 1-877-373-4858 for tree trimming.
- Sidewalk and Concrete Repairs and Maintenance: Sidewalk and Concrete Crew is responsible for the preparation, construction, repair, and finishing of sidewalks, curbs, and other concrete surfaces.
- Graffiti Removal: A Graffiti Removal Crew is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and visually appealing public spaces by removing graffiti from walls, sidewalks, buildings, and other surface.
