Streets Division

Overview of Streets Division

The Streets Division, under the direction of the Director of Public Works, staffed by 40 employees, undertakes road maintenance and construction, in accordance with the City's Five-Year Capital Improvements Program, including chip seals, overlays, reconstruction/reclaiming and paving for all streets and alleys within the corporate city limits. Fifty percent (50%) of Streets’ efforts are directed to streets and alleys maintenance including street repairs and pot hole patching.

Services

  • Streetlight Repair: The City of Edinburg gathers malfunctioning streetlight information and forwards it to American Electric Power (AEP) and to Magic Valley Electric Co-op (MVEC). It is noted that city crews do not repair streetlights. All streetlights are owned and maintained by AEP or MVEC. Problems with streetlights in private communities should be referred to the homeowners association or reported directly to AEP or MVEC. It is important that we have the most accurate description of where the streetlight is located and the nature of the malfunction. The City of Edinburg strives to ensure that streetlights within the City limits are serviced and maintained by the appropriate electric company.
  • Pothole Repairs: The Streets Division launched an aggressive and innovative initiative to improve the quality of roadways in Edinburg through Project-Street Repair. The City of Edinburg aims to provide a roadway maintenance schedule that will maximize the life cycle of roads and improve the quality of life for citizens.

NOTE: Please use the contact information below to report any issues with streetlights. If you live in a private community, please contact your Homeowners Association (HOA) or report the problem directly to AEP or MVEC.
