Residential Services

Overview of Residential Services

Residential Service is provided to all single family residences, townhouses or commercialized residences (consisting of two or less units). Except those who have received variance from this section, are required to subscribe to the City’s residential collection service. All residents are eligible to receive garbage and recycling services from the City of Edinburg after establishing a water account with the City's Utility Department. Once your account is established residents must come by our office located at 8601 N. Jasman Road to establish their service. When establishing your services you may also request information or join on our voluntary curbside recycling program, which is currently only available to our residential customers; commercial customers are able to utilize our recycling drop off center. For more specific information see our Recycling Services tab.

Garbage is collected once a week and recyclables are collected bi-weekly. Collections start at 7 a.m. and are conducted Monday through Friday for residential garbage and Wednesday's for recyclables. Bins must be placed out for collection after 7 p.m. the night before your scheduled collection day. All bins must be taken off the curb by 7 p.m. on your collection day. Containers should only be on the curb on collections pickup days. There is no set time for pickups of bins on scheduled days.

The cleanliness and sanitation of the container will be the responsibility of the resident and can be done so by using a mild detergent and water hose as needed. Additionally, we provide residential Brush & Bulky Items services at no additional cost for residents with an established water account. Only regular refuse, garbage and trash should be placed in any City owned containers. Solid Waste Management encourages the bagging of all your garbage prior to placement in your container to assist in keeping your container clean and sanitary, as well as to help prevent vectors and windblown litter on windy days. If you are physically or medically unable to place your cart at the curb, contact the DSWM at (956) 381-5635 or follow the link Special Collection Services.
