La Casa de Benarda Alba Performance

“En el pueblo hay gentes que leen también de lejos los pensamientos escondidos…Other people in the village can also read people's minds.”

-La Poncia, Act 2.

The City of Edinburg Library and Cultural Arts presents La Casa de Benarda Alba written by Federico Garcia Lorca and directed by Dr.Edna Ochoa. The play will take place at the Edinburg Municipal Auditorium located at 415 W. University Dr. Edinburg, Tx 78539. The performance will run from April 15 to April 18 and April 22 to April 25, 2020 at 6:30 P.M.

La Casa de Bernarda Alba is a drama of women in the villages of Spain in the early 1930s, a great critical reflection on the customs of that time. The tyranny of the supposed honor and social norms are represented with great realism in the character of Bernarda, who drowns out the desire for freedom and life of the youngest of her daughters.
