Assist First Responders by Participating on the 2020 Census

The U.S. Census Bureau requests that all residents complete the 2020 Census to assist first responders in honor of National Nurses Week, the U.S. Census Bureau is asking for all households to respond to the 2020 Census to assist first responders. Completing the Census questionnaire is a way for households to be counted and say “Thank You.” Responses help communities assess the need for hospitals, fire stations, and other resources.

THE U.S. CENSUS BUREAU WILL RESUME SOME FIELD OPERATIONS IN SELECT LOCATIONS
The U.S. Census Bureau, in coordination with federal, state and local health officials, will begin a phased restart of some 2020 Census field operations in select geographic areas this week. Updates on the operations are available at 2020census.gov. The site will be updated weekly as 2020 Census operations resume across the United States.

The health and safety of the public and Census staff is of the utmost importance. All returning staff will receive safety training to observe social distancing protocols in the COVID-19 environment. For their safety and the safety of the public, the Census Bureau has ordered Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all field staff, including those that work in a field office. HOUSEHOLDS CAN STILL RESPOND
Now until October 31, 2020, households can still respond to the 2020 Census online at 2020census.gov, by phone at 844.330.2020, or by mail.

Hidalgo County continues to lead the Rio Grande Valley Census 2020 self-response with 39.4% of households responding. In 2010, Hidalgo County had a total of 55.9% self-response rate.
