Aviation

Department of Aviation operates and maintains South Texas International Airport at Edinburg, situated on 1,080 acres along I-69C/US 281 at the north end of the City’s limit.  Throughout its 80-year history, Edinburg’s airport (our identifiers are EBG and KEBG) serves general aviation customers including law enforcement, military, medevac, flight instruction, international arrivals & departures, emergency responders, and even commercial charter flights.  Despite most of Edinburg’s citizens being unaware of their own airport, more are learning of its growth, importance, its opportunities, and contribution to the community.  Aircraft you’ll see at EBG range from single-engine trainers & commuters, to medium-lift helicopters, to large business jets such as the Gulfstream IV.

As City of Edinburg grows, its airport grows. By 2026 Runway 14-32 will have lengthen from 5,000 to 6,000 feet, ready to accommodate the even larger aircraft already associated with Edinburg commerce, but meanwhile have had to use neighboring airfields.

EBG has aviation fuels 100LL and Jet-A+, and serving our international customers we have U. S. Customs
