Human Resources

The Human Resources Department provides policy direction on human resource management issues and administrative support to all City departments to effectively manage and ensure a fair and equitable workplace for the employees of the City while they service the City. 

The Human Resources Department's scope of services include:
  • Employee Recruitment
  • Employee Benefits and Wellness
  • Risk Management
  • Civil Service
The department implements and manages the recruitment of City employees to include various background screening processes, new hire orientation, maintenance of personnel records and the grievance process. 

The department also manages the workers' compensation, family and medical leave act (FMLA) and safety programs as well as administer employee benefits and coordinate trainings for City employees. 

In addition, the department manages the civil service process for civil service protected employees of the City's Police and Fire Departments to include administering examinations for entry-level and promotional positions within these departments.
