Edinburg has seen enhancements in its infrastructure supporting the Valley’s growth as well, with projects including:

Freddy Gonzalez Drive Expansion

Freddy Gonzalez Drive endured multiple projects over the past year.  In addition to being expanded to include a turning lane at the intersection with McColl Road, Freddy Gonzalez Drive was repaved.  The project runs down to 10th Street in neighboring McAllen.

Working in conjunction with Hidalgo County and the Hidalgo County MPO, 10th Street in Edinburg has begun the intial stages of expansion that will connect University Drive all the way to Monte Cristo Drive.

New Transit Terminal in Edinburg

The Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council, in conjunction with the City and the Edinburg EDC, are constructing a Transit Terminal located at 617 W. The terminal will serve as home to Valley Metro, the City’s public transit provider.  Additionally, the project will provide office and retail space.
