Dog Walker Watch

What is Dog Watch Walk?

A program developed by National Association Town Watch, encourages neighbors to assist local law enforcement as extra eyes and ears while walking in the neighborhood. The program enhances the partnership between police and the community while providing resources for neighbors to be more aware and how to effectively report suspicious activity.

According to the American Pet Product Association (APPA), there are over seventy-five million dog owners in the Nation.

That's millions of potential extra eyes and ears to assist local law enforcement by reporting suspicious activity. Those who know the neighborhood best will be more aware and less hesitant to report it.

What is suspicious?

A person is not suspicious, but behavior is. Notice the behavior - do they have a sense of urgency or no destination?

  • Walking toward the rear of property.
  • Trespassing, canvassing, scouting the area.
  • Peering into car windows.
  • Parked in unusual location, idling.
