The City of Edinburg is proud to pronounce the 40th Annual All-America City David Chavana 10k Run/ Walk along with other fun races! This series of races will start with the 7th Annual Miracle Mile on Friday, February 4th, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at the Richard Flores Stadium.  Read more about it here.

Edinburg World Birding Center Invites Public to Learn More about Rare Bird
Thousands of years ago, two small purple birds moved into a natural gourd hung by Native Americans and raised their young. Today, these small birds, known as Purple Martins, nest only in housing provided by humans. In an effort to share more about this fascinating symbiotic relationship between Purple Martins and humans, the Edinburg Scenic Wetlands and World Birding Center (EWBC) is hosting ‘Purple Martins: The Bonds That Bind’ on Saturday, January 22. Bird Walks Every Thursday

COVID-19 Drive-Thru Testing Site Opening at Edinburg Municipal Park
As the need for COVID-19 testing increases across the county, Hidalgo County has partnered with FEMA, the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM), and the City of Edinburg to open a drive-thru testing site at the Edinburg Municipal Park located at 714 S. Raul Longoria Road in Edinburg. Health officials expect to administer about 1,000 COVID-19 tests per day. Read more about it here.

City of Edinburg Observes MARTIN LUTHER KING JR DAY with Cemetery Clean Up
The City of Edinburg’s Juneteenth Committee in conjunction with UTRGV Center for Student Involvement will host a MLK Day “Clean Up” at the Restlawn Cemetery at 1122 North Jasman Road in Edinburg, Texas. The clean-up will be on January 17, 2022 from 9:45 - 12:00 p.m. The Restlawn Cemetery is a historical African American cemetery that was segregated during the 1920’s. Read more about it here.
