City of Edinburg to Host Key Events During Inaugural RGV Navy Week

Edinburg, TX -  The City of Edinburg will play a central role in the inaugural Rio Grande Valley Navy Week, taking place January 24–31, as the United States Navy brings more than 70 Sailors to the region for a week of public performances, educational outreach, and community service. Navy Week is a national outreach program designed to connect communities without a major naval presence to the Navy’s mission and people.

Edinburg will host several signature ceremonies and performances honoring military service and local heritage. Events will also take place in Mission, McAllen, and Brownsville.

A highlight of Navy Week in Edinburg includes Sailors from the USS Gonzalez (DDG 66), named after Medal of Honor recipient and Edinburg native Sgt. Alfredo “Freddy” Gonzalez.
